ABC Music and Me is an award-winning music and movement program for children 18 months to 4 years. This curriculum helps to develop pre-literacy and language skills through songs, movement and story time. Using music as the medium, children will develop fine and gross motor skills, improve hand-eye coordination, learn musical concepts, focused listening skills, while having lots of fun. This class is especially ideal for parents who would like siblings to attend class together.

What you and your child will experience in class:
Story Time and Early Literacy – Songs and rhymes to develop phonetic awareness and early reading skills.

Instrument Exploration – There will be lots of hands-on percussive instrument time, which helps to improve hand-eye coordination. Playing percussive instruments is purposely designed to help children identify steady beat and practice self-control.

Movement Activities – Dancing and moving to music creates body awareness, facilitates balance and the development of fine and gross motor skills.

Together Time – A Kindermusik class is truly the essence of “quality time,” offering the parent a place to create special memories with their child, gain new insights into their child’s development, and nurture their child’s natural love of music.

Learn more about the theme of the current and upcoming sessions:
All ABC classes are presented in sessions, and each session focuses on a particular theme. Here is some information about the current session.

Winter Session – Silly All Over & Home Sweet Home (January 2 – February 25, 2012)
Children love to laugh, and the first half of this session will help develop their newfound sense of humor. A strong sense of humor helps children relieve stress, develop problem-solving skills, and strengthen developing social skills. In class we will listen to silly sounds, move in silly ways, and explore a wide variety of percussive instruments. Children learn best in the comfortable surroundings and everyday activities of their home. In the second half of this session we use this nurturing theme to turn our classroom into a pretend house. Featured is a story about the different kinds of houses animals make-from a spider’s web to a bird’s nest.
Home Materials: 2 Home CD’s, 2 magazine-style Family Guides, and a Pair of Green Sand Blocks

Early Spring Session – Up in the Sky & Down on the Ground (February 27 – April 21, 2012)
In the first part of this unit we’ll be singing, playing instruments and moving our bodies to songs and activities about stars, the Moon, the Sun, birds and kites. In the second half of the unit we’ll explore animals, insects and other creatures that live on the ground. Woven into many of these activities is the exploration of a variety of percussive instruments and drums. Puppets will be a highlight of story time.
Home Materials: 2 Home CDs, 2 Magazine-Style Family Guides, and a 3-Bell Jingle Instrument

Fall Session II – Colors & Shapes on the Farm & Rhyme Around Town (October 12 – December 10, 2011)
In the first part of this unit we will take a trip to the farm and encounter colors and shapes as we explore haystacks and hayrides, barns and lots of animals. A musical story-time will wrap it all together as the farm animals suggest their favorite colors to wear. In the latter half of the session you and your child will enjoy using your imaginations and rhyming-word awareness to hit the town – down the street to the bake shop, the cobbler’s shop, the grocery store, and even the doctor’s office, and then back home again to relax and get ready for bed. At home with your Family Guide Magazine, you will explore the town pretending to be cats, dogs, ducks and more as you develop your child’s language and motor skills.
