Why is Kindermusik the best choice for my child?
Kindermusik takes your child’s innate affinity for music and provides an environment in which they can deepen the sheer joy of playing, dancing, and listening to music. Classes move at a pace that allows children to explore and discover their interests and celebrate their discoveries. From birth through age six, with the caring guidance of a trained and licensed Kindermusik educator, your child can grow and learn without pressure to perform, only encouragement to blossom.

You’ll witness the development of language skills, literacy, listening, problem solving, social skills, self-esteem, self-expression and a love of music.

Research tells us that music is the only activity that stimulates every area of the brain simultaneously, which is why Kindermusik carefully creates each class using music as the key to unlocking the brain, and then provides Home Materials – high quality, musically diverse CD’s, beautiful literature books, specially designed instruments and creative activities – that will complement and extend your child’s learning at home.

Why is Kindermusik the best choice for me as a parent?
Kindermusik acknowledges that you are your child’s first and most important teacher, and your Kindermusik classes will empower you with the knowledge and tools to bring the love of learning to your child. A Kindermusik class is truly the essence of “precious quality time,” offering you a place to create special memories with your child and gain new insights into your child’s development.

Kindermusik classes foster a sense of community and belonging for both child and adult. Not only will your child flourish in this environment, but you will also come to appreciate the support and friendship from the other adults in class. No other single activity you can give your child offers the integrated, creative, child-centered experience that Kindermusik does.

Can babies really benefit from Kindermusik?
Infants are born with billions of nerve cells and a nearly unlimited potential for connections between those nerve cells. Every time an infant has a sensory experience, neural pathways are formed: the greater the number of neural pathways, the greater the brainpower. Rich sensory environments are vital to the brain development of infants.

In an infant class (Village), we often do choreographed dancing which allows children to understand and anticipate patterns. We play with steady beat, which enhances our ability to pick up the pattern of language. This is crucial in learning to read and write.

Music increases coordination and balance, promotes literacy and language, cultivates listening skills, and encourages delightful and sweet interaction with your baby.

My child looks forward to class all week but in class he does not participate. Is that ok?
Don’t worry. He is learning even though it seems like he’s disinterested or disconnected. A common and perfectly normal learning style for children is observation before participation. Kindermusik is about process, not performance. This will become obvious when a child who doesn’t participate in class, re-creates the Kindermusik classroom activities and songs at home. For some children feeling comfortable expressing themselves in class takes time and the best thing for a parent to do is have fun dancing, singing, and playing instruments together at home, before long the same thing will happen in class.
My child has special needs. Is Kindermusik for her?
Children with speech difficulty or delays, children with Down’s syndrome, hearing impairments and other physical and learning disorders can often thrive and blossom by having Kindermusik in their lives. Kindermusik activities are carefully structured so that different areas of the brain are stimulated simultaneously. This impacts language acquisition, coordination, socialization, independence, self-confidence and the ability to be comfortable in a group setting, all of which are crucial in a special needs child’s development.

Please let us know of any special needs or concerns when you register so we can best meet the needs of your child.

Can I bring siblings to class?
Babies are welcome in a sibling’s class at no charge until they are mobile. Please contact us to discuss. If older siblings have the day off from school, they’re welcome to join us for class. Please call to schedule.
What if my child is sick?
If your child is ill, please keep them home. If they have had a fever, have vomited or had diarrhea in the 24 hours prior to your class time, please keep them home. Contact the studio to schedule a make-up class for classes missed due to illness.
What is your make-up policy?
If your child misses a class, we are happy to accommodate make-up classes. These classes must be made up during the same semester. Please contact the studio to schedule your make-up class, as not all classes will have room to accept make-up students.
What is your refund policy?
Like other activities your child is enrolled in, we reserve a space in the class for your child for the entire semester. As classes have a maximum number of children we can accept, we unfortunately sometimes have to turn away students, because a space is committed to your child, and we will not give it away, or double book.

As our registration form states, a non-refundable deposit is due with registration. When you enroll you are committing to pay for the entire semester. In general, as you will find with other activities your child is involved in, we do not give refunds after the first day of class. There are of course, special circumstances, such as a move out of the area, but these are dealt with on an individual basis.

If you would like to visit a class before enrolling, we would be happy to schedule a free preview class at any time.
