Village village-baby

Village classes provide a delightful environment unlike any other. Through a unique blend of multi-sensory activities that include creative movement, vocal play, object and instrument exploration as well as colorful literature, your baby’s growth and development are stimulated and all senses are engaged. Kindermusik Village is for lap-babies, crawlers and walkers. It incorporates the most current research on early childhood development and provides families a special place for learning and connecting with other parents and babies through music and movement. What you and your child will experience in class

Variety of Music -Musical diversity promotes creativity and acceptance, and builds strong neural networks in a baby’s forming mind. In class you will listen, sing and move to songs, rhymes and sounds from all around the world.

Instrument Play – Exploration promotes intrigue and independence. In Village classes, children play with age appropriate, child-safe instruments that deepen their natural sense of rhythm. This helps develop a keen awareness of the distinguishing qualities of sounds, and encourages spontaneity and creativity.

Dance – A classroom full of babies and parents (or care givers) dancing together with their child, helps a little body develop the muscle strength needed to crawl and walk and helps a little heart to fall in love with the sheer joy of responding to music.

Together Time – A Kindermusik class is truly the essence of “quality time,” offering the parent a place to create special memories with their child, gain new insights into their child’s development and nurture their child’s natural love of music.

Story Time and Early Literacy – Listening to stories enhances language and speech development, fosters awareness of sounds, stimulates fantasy and imagination, and encourages a child’s natural love of stories.

Learn more about current theme

All Village classes are presented in sessions, and each session focuses on a particular theme. Here is some information about the current session, as well as the next sessions you can enroll in.

Winter 2016 2nd 8 weeks (March 29th, 2017 – May 20th, 2017)The Rhythm of My Day –  Welcome to The Rhythm of My Day. This unit is designed to help parents incorporate music into many of the regular routines found throughout their daily life. We have taken great care to capture the intimate daily rituals and routines parents share with their babies-everything from bath time to Mommy or Daddy’s arrival home from work – through a variety of songs, chants and instrumental selections. Parents will learn how music can help their little one soothe herself and helps to build a strong network for learning in her body and mind. They will also find an introduction to sign language throughout the lessons to help them begin to integrate signs into daily routines. Lesson focuses highlight several other key concepts like diversity of sound, stop and go, syncopation, and singing. Home Materials:  CD, story book, age appropriate musical instrument, art banner.

Winter 2016 1st 8 weeks (Jan 4th, 2016 – Feb 9th, 2016)Hickory Dickory –  Welcome to Village Hickory, Dickory, Tickle & Bounce! Nursery rhymes, whether spoken or paired with tunes, are indeed musical and rhythmic. They also tend to be short and, thus, easily repeated. They lend themselves naturally to accompaniment with various playful games. All this combined with the good feelings adults tend to experience passing along rhymes and songs of their childhood, make the sharing of nursery rhymes a rich learning experience, a joyful pastime – and a natural choice as the theme for a unit of Kindermusik Village. You will enjoy exposing your baby to the sounds of language, modeling and encouraging expressive use of the voice with familiar verses and rhymes. You’ll explore the fundamental music concepts of Steady Beat; Up and Down; and Major, Minor, and more – all by means of songs, chants, dances, object and instrument play. Home Materials:  CD, story book, age appropriate musical instrument, art banner.
